About this place
Visitors to Fukume recommend the sashimi platter, seared fugu and fried fugu. It is an izakaya where you can build a meal around seafood, or add meat dishes and small plates for a livelier spread.
Fukume, in Nishitanabe-chō, offers a daily selection of fish dishes. Options include tuna, Akashi octopus, flounder and sea bream at ¥500 each, a large scallop for ¥700, and a sashimi assortment for ¥1,300. Choose the platter to make sashimi the centre of the meal, or order individual fish to try them one by one. One diner noted that the manager and staff source fish from the morning market, and recommended the sashimi platter and seared fugu.
Fugu is another focus. Fried fugu, fugu fried with shiso and plum, fugu tempura and seared fugu are all listed at ¥500. You can choose between fried dishes and seared fugu, enjoying the fish prepared in different ways. Diners have mentioned enjoying the fugu dishes, including one who said it was their first time trying fugu gratin.
The menu extends well beyond seafood. Standouts include stir-fried offal, tonpei-yaki, fried chicken and Fukume fried rice. The offal stir-fry comes with a choice of sauce or salt, and cheese can be added to the tonpei-yaki. The signature grilled offal is ¥500; yakisoba, available with sauce or salt, is ¥550. For a more substantial meal, consider an offal rice bowl or sobameshi, a fried-rice-and-noodle dish.
Drinks include beer, sake, shochu, wine by the glass and highballs. Fukume suits a casual evening of sharing small plates, as well as a group gathering over a set menu with all-you-can-drink drinks. The ¥3,500 set menu is listed with 9 dishes and 90 minutes of all-you-can-drink service, and includes a boat-shaped sashimi platter and fugu dishes.
